Elisabetta Ceron

She began studying dance under the guidance of her mother, Paola. She furthered her training primarily in France, Portugal, and Monaco, working with internationally renowned teachers. In Monte Carlo, under the guidance of Marika Besobrasova – Director of the Académie Princesse Grace – she performed with the junior group both in the Principality and in France.

She graduated from the Accademia Nazionale di Danza in Rome in 1987, presenting a thesis on Maurice Béjart under the supervision of Maestro Alberto Testa, after having made her debut with the academy’s resident company under the direction of Maestro Zarko Prebil. From 1987 to 1992, she was a guest teacher at the International Summer School of Dancing in Lignano Sabbiadoro. In 1987, she co-founded in Udine the Associazione Danza e Balletto, within which she established the research atelier Gruppo Stabile Udinese, a scenic practice laboratory for emerging young dancers from Friuli. As a choreographer, she has collaborated and continues to collaborate with RAI Trieste, Telefriuli, and Telepordenone, and has contributed to the creation of photographic publications, books, video clips, and works of video dance.

From 1987 to 1997, she collaborated in the artistic direction of the International Dance Gala for UNICEF. Since 1997, she has been the organizer and artistic director of internationally oriented artistic and educational events held on an annual basis, including the International Dance Gala for the Croce Rossa.

Since 1994, she has been a dance critic for Il Messaggero Veneto, writing for the performing arts section, and curated a regular column dedicated to Friulian artists for the same newspaper.

From 1998 to 1999, she served as dance consultant for the Teatro Nuovo “Giovanni da Udine”, under the direction of Renato Quaglia.

In 2001, together with dancer and choreographer Massimo Gerardi, director of the company SUBStanz Köln/Dresden (D), she founded the atelier enidUDanza (adeb), an artistic collective open to experimentation with the languages of the body in unconventional performance spaces outside traditional theatres. Also in 2001, she co-founded, together with the Assessorato alla Cultura of the Comune di Udine, the dance festival “Corpi Sensibili – teatro danza città”.

In 2002, she received the national choreographic award “Napoli è danza” from Giuliana Penzi, who served for over thirty years as Director of the Accademia Nazionale di Danza in Rome.

In 2003, she co-authored with Giuliana Penzi, director of the Accademia Nazionale di Danza in Rome, the book “La propedeutica della danza”.

In 2005, the Special Commissioner of the Italian Red Cross, Maurizio Scelli, awarded her the Diploma di Benemerenza/Certificate of Merit with a 1st Class Medal. In the same year, she received from the C.O.N.I. the National Second-Level Diploma as a specialist sports operator – classical dance teacher.

Since 2007, she has been a member of the editorial team and a dance critic for the magazine Danza&Danza (Milan).

In 2010, she joined the jury of the National “Danza & Danza” Award.

Since 2015, she has curated the choreographic platform for emerging young dancers and choreographers What We Are.

From 2017 to 2018, she was a lecturer in the European training course “Maestro di Danza” at I.D.A.

Since 2023, she has been a juror of the Bologna Ballet Competition, organized by Aja Jung, alongside renowned professionals in the field, including Jacopo Godani, Erica Gauthier, Konstantinos Rigos, Enrico Morelli, Philippe Kratz, and Paolo Mangiola.
